Hackaday last October on the #JLCPCB account banning thing
on 02026-09-03“#China’s export compliance overhaul” #news that might explain the #JLCPCB banning problems, discussing “Regulations on the #Export-Control of Dual-Use Items”
on 02026-09-03A few other people on the EEVBlog forums in October 02025 getting blocked by #JLCPCB “due to the compliance review failure”. Two of them report being able to switch to new (presumably Chinese) manufacturers with no problems. Also, one mentions #Aisler, and that Würth/WEDirekt offers #PCBA, but is expensive at prototype quantities. People in Greece, Slovakia, Ecuador, Serbia, Australia, etc., are reporting this problem, and even the USA.
JLC says: “This adjustment was made to meet stricter compliance requirements and global trade compliance criteria, which involved reviewing and closing accounts with a history of risky IP addresses and risky activities. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and concern this has caused, and we are truly sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced.”
ZaphodBeeblebrox says that #Eurocircuits does indeed offer PCBA: “Bare board prices are high compared to Chinese manufacturers, but assembly costs are quite fine in my opinion.”
“JLC-Blacklist” (“a small business in the USA”)said on Oct. 22, “My JLC account rep emailed me this morning. I have to fill out paperwork and they may reopen my account. I haven't had a chance to look at it closely yet. I’ll check it out later at the office to see what info they want.” Earlier, on Oct. 17, they’d said, “This is a major disruption for our business that’s used jlcpcb for over five years. (...) we’ve probably spent a quarter million USD there.”
JLC-Blacklist clarified: “JLC wanted me to confirm that I do screen customers using OFAC and DPL lists. They also wanted me to confirm the PCBs will not be used in any military or space applications. That we are not part of the government. If we are owned by a parent company, who are they. That I will not export PCBs to countries outlined (N Korea, Sudan, Russia, etc). (...) I was never out of compliance for anything they asked about, so I should be in good shape to get enabled to use JLC again.”
Spirit532 and fbrozovic reported the same experience, and later (Oct. 31) Spirit532 said they’d been unblocked except for PCBA, but then later still (Nov. 5) reported that they still weren’t allowed to order PCBs.
JLC-Blacklist reported on Nov. 8 that they were “still in limbo”, and then, on Nov. 19, that they could place PCB orders again (but not PCBA). Then, on Nov. 20: “I fessed up about doing JLC ordering work while on vacation (seemed harmless). I provided the travel itinerary showing it was me on holiday which I assume matched their logs and now my JLC account has been completely restored including PCBA. / Whatever starlink IP I used was on a naughty list or had geolocation to a naughty country. So be careful about IP as they are definitely monitoring them.”
Spirit532 reported on Dec. 30, “There goes that. 30 some emails later, they finally fully refused to let me do PCBA. An absurd and arbitrary restriction, since I can order everything else.”
on 02026-09-03#JLCPCB blocked a Russian guy’s #PCBA orders after he moved to Serbia because of “compliance”; a Redditor speculates, “It seems that you've been thrown into the middle of US sanctions on Russia. Specifically, the US is interested in shutting down third-party persons who might import goods that further war efforts, including electronic assemblies and notable semiconductors.”

on 02026-09-03a report from July that #JLCPCB and other #PCBA houses have raised their prices for 500-board runs 30% since “a couple of months ago” (≈April), presumably due to the #Iran war. #electronics #hardware #manufacturing
on 02026-09-03People on the EEVblog forum in 02021 reported that, although #JLCPCB supports a MOQ of 5 boards for #PCBA, some of the parts they can assemble with it have a higher MOQ. “For that particular part, the minimum quantity is 15. You must pay for 15, even if they only need 5 or 10 to assemble your boards.” There’s also an “attrition” amount for some parts, which is the number of parts they lose off the tape when they cut it (and you pay for). #electronics #hardware #manufacturing
on 02026-09-03#video by #Harrison-Low on his jugglebot triumph. He finally switched from kevlar kite string to #UHMWPE for the linear actuators. Also he switched to #ODrive Pro electronics to control the motors. Featuring a #JLCPCB #3D-printing ad, sigh. Oh, also he burned out the hand motor because a sensor cable came unplugged. #robotics
on 02026-08-18Maxim #Kachurovskiy’s #video of #manufacturing a concrete lathe "NanoEls" with #3D-printing for #machining. Except that he also bought some machined aluminum parts from #JLCPCB CNC. Includes open-source (?) G-code control thing that consumes STL files. He regrets not leaving two channels in the base to post-tension the concrete with M12 threaded rod and not vibrating the concrete enough to get the bubbles out.
on 02025-10-21#JLCPCB has new cheapest #microcontrollers: #Nyquest NY8A051H: 1.58¢ each in quantity 20000, or 3.2¢ in quantity 1 #hardware #pricing
on 02024-05-12#JLCPCB has the STM32G431 #hardware in stock for US$1.76 in quantity 30, less than half of Digi-Key’s #pricing
on 02024-05-12apparently #SD card #hardware can’t handle lots of transitions on #SPI MOSI when CLK is stable, but Dmitry overcame that problem with another latch and interfaced an SD card to his #Handspring. Oh and apparently you have to init the card at 400kHz or less. And now you can buy his boards from #JLCPCB for US$3
on 02024-01-25"Pineapple One" #RISC-V #hardware. Mentions that the reason for using 100mm×100mm PCBs is that they’re cheaper at #JLCPCB.
