#video #interview by Rick Beato with #Tori Amos where she says she was feeling kind of depressed about what she'd achieved in her life and about what her postmenopausal life was going to be like, and so she was really happy to see a video he had done about how much Little Earthquakes meant to him (he doesn't only do interviews), which is how he got the interview
#news #video: The #Trump administration says it will exclude electronics such as smartphones and laptops from latest #tariffs. That means such devices and their components won’t be subject to the current 145 per cent tariffs levied on #China, or the 10 per cent baseline tariffs elsewhere. #politics #USA

#news #video speculating that #China will invade #Taiwan now that they don’t have to worry about losing trade with the #USA, having already lost it to the #Trump #tariffs. Points out that Chinese imports from the US are easily replaceable things like soybeans, unlike fine chemicals and microchips. #politics
#medicine #paper about a guy who survived accidentally drinking 250mℓ of 35% H₂O₂. Apparently 3.5ℓ of oxygen evolves from 30mℓ of 35% H₂O₂, so you can get gas injury.
#hardware #simulation #video by Sebastian Lague extending a simple store-ALU-output-in-A-or-B computer to have 256 bytes of simulated RAM. Includes a nice #introduction to SRAM and DRAM etc.
#PDF of Sagnak’s #dissertation #paper on geotechnical soil stabilization for civil engineering using recycled gypsum and sodium silicate (#waterglass). It mentions that bacterial soil stabilization (using carbonates) has been widely used since at least 01999, long predating the tafoni project and Biobricks.

#news #video saying there was a false rumor that #Milei had decreed a US$100 monthly limit on bank withdrawals (a “corralito”) propagated on social networks by Peronists, referencing BCRA communiqué A8226, which this YouTuber interprets as meaning, instead, that you can only buy up to US$100 per month with pesos deposited in cash (as opposed to in your bank account). #Argentina #politics
#video on #laser diode wavelength stabilization by adjusting the drive current and temperature (using a resistive heating element!) to compensate for wavelength shifts. Demonstrates “mode hops” on an oscilloscope; the initial heating using a temperature sensor (a transistor I think) is to get it to a mode-hop-free region, and then the current is PID-controlled to stabilize the wavelength, and a second control loop adjusts the temperature to “desaturate” the current controller. He says he got the wavelength stabilized to ±2nm “over a range of 200mm”, which I think means 10⁻⁸, not 2/555 or so. #optics #toread #hardware
