KQED #news about #California-Forever #charter-cities, surprisingly sympathetic
on 02025-10-28Seems like #California-Forever #charter-cities is back, but in Suisun City instead of Solano County, and maybe something on Grand Bahama? And Próspera in #Honduras is still fighting, with a US$11 billion lawsuit still in progress. “Since the government doesn’t seem to be able to legally shut down Prospera, they’ve resorted to harassing it - especially trying to debank it. This might have worked, if not for the fact that a certain $4 trillion weird Ponzi casino industry has always imagined itself as having a fig-leaf purpose of “what if a utopian libertarian island-city got debanked by a repressive socialist government and could only save itself if there were a entirely new kind of financial infrastructure totally different from the regular one?”; although I imagine they were just as surprised as anyone else when this exact scenario suddenly played out in real life, nobody can deny they were extremely prepared for it.” Also Sherbro, Sierra Leone.
on 02025-10-28#video on Flannery LLC aka #California-Forever trying to set up #charter-cities in Solano County, California — and suing farmers who refused to sell their land on the basis that the farmers were engaging in an illegal price-fixing conspiracy. They own like a quarter of the county now but probably won’t get the political support they need to build their planned charter city. #politics
