Chroma subsampling in video #signals: 4:4:4 vs. 4:2:2 vs. 4:2:0. Apparently #HDMI signals are normally subsampled!
The ZX Spectrum had 1 bit for each of its 256×192 pixels, then 768 attribute bytes for 8×8 “character cells” which defined a 3-bit paper color, a 3-bit ink color, and bright and flashing attributes. #graphics #retrocomputing
#dithering transparency in Super Mario Odyssey #videogames avoids #graphics overdraw “by creating the illusion of transparency through stippling.” I guess you just run your shader program on the background pixels that peek through the dither mask.
