What an embarrassment. It’s useful to see what kind of patriotic rhetoric they use to sell this white elephant. The second speaker is Rafael Grossi, who was the Argentine ambassador to Austria before becoming the head (Director General) of the #IAEA. Rossi, hilariously, says nuclear energy “es una herramienta que la Argentina ha usado en los últimos 70 años con marcado éxito”, not daring to mention anything that suggests Huemul. He does eventually dare to mention nuclear weapons at 8'52”. Milei finally starts speaking at 10'16”. His list of technological revolutions: fire, the wheel, the loom, the steam locomotive, electric energy, and the internet; he says today artificial intelligence opens a new frontier in this Manifest Destiny that we share as a species, which will require more energy than conventional energy — but somehow completely forgets to mention solar and wind energy. #politics
another #video of a #Milei speech, 80 minutes at some kind of dinner, I guess in Tucumán at a meeting of “Federalismo y Libertad”. He says, among other things, that the poverty rate has fallen from 54.8% in the first quarter 02024 to 38.9%, while indigence fell from 20.2% to 8.6%. Says the economy is expanding at a 10% annual rate, which sounds like he thought 16.5% was too high to be credible but still wants to use quarter-to-quarter GDP growth rates (he does say “17% anual” when talking about the 3Q figures). “El consumo viene creciendo a un ritmo del 20% anual; decían que no iba a haber inversiones” (I’m guilty on this point) “y las inversiones vienen volando al 50% anual.” Claims his administration is the best administration in the history of #Argentina, ew. Says that when he assumed power the “salario básico” was 300 dollars [per month] and now it’s 1100 dollars [per month], which I think is roughly correct, and unemployment is down to 6.9%. Also talks about covering 100% of the “canasta básica”, a potential free trade treaty with the #USA, etc. Described the Ministry of Women and the INADI as “organisms dedicated to persecution of those who don’t take Communion from the Left.” Refers to the Kirchnerists as “the cockroaches”, “las cucarachas”. “Las bases del capitalismo de libre empresa están en la cultura judío.” Opposes Israel to the “collectivist agenda”, apparently unaware of the kibbutzim. #politics

The off-the-shelf stimulator, a “TNS SM2 / MF” made by Pierenkemper GmbH, runs off a 9-volt battery and delivers 70mA on I guess each of two channels; three potentiometers offer control, including two supposedly calibrated in mA and one in Hz. He demos stimulating the palm flexor muscle; at 10mA his hand contracts. The electrodes are sticky and come on a plastic pad that permits reusing them without having to apply gel. #electronics #hardware
