Microchip #PIC #microcontroller #hardware with 50 12-bit analog ADC channels. US$5.84-7.05 at Digi-Key.
This #LibreSOC prototype is 5.5 mm × 5.9 mm and has only 130,000 gates in TSMC’s 180nm process, to be fabbed via Imec’s shuttle service (#MPW, like MOSIS and CMP?), running a subset of the OpenPOWER ISA bolted to the side of a CDC 6600 (!!), using LIP6’s coriolis2 for synthesis and place and route. “The Cell Library used, FlexLib, also sponsored by NLnet, was developed by Staf Verhaegen of Chips4Makers, and is Libre-Licensed. Symbolic (ghost) versions of FlexLib allowed Libre-SOC developers to not have to sign a Foundry NDA during the development of the ASIC Layout.” This is a pretty appallingly low density, though; that’s about half a million transistors, 16000 per mm², though it’s the same process as Coppermine (02000, 21 million transistors in 80mm², 250k/mm²) or the Alpha 21364 (02003, 152 million transistors in 397 mm², 400k/mm²)

"computational trinitarianism": “as one passes from classical computation to classically controlled quantum computation on linear spaces of quantum states parametrized over classical data types; from dependent intuitionistic homotopy type theory to dependent linear type theory of dependent stable homotopy types; from locally cartesian closed categories/(∞,1)-categories to indexed monoidal categories/(∞,1)-categories of parametrized spectra; which in the language of algebraic topology is the context of twisted generalized cohomology theory; there appears the “classically controlled quantum computational tetralogy” #QC
Ali Partovi describes why Steve Jobs decided not to acquire his startup iLike in 02008 #history: “Bullshit. You’re lying to me. You’re full of shit.”
#history of #Yahoo: “If circumstances had been different, the people running Yahoo might have realized sooner how important search was. But they had the most opaque obstacle in the world between them and the truth: money. As long as customers were writing big checks for banner ads, it was hard to take search seriously ... The worst consequence of trying to be a media company was that they didn't take programming seriously enough. Microsoft (back in the day), Google, and Facebook have all had hacker-centric cultures. But Yahoo treated programming as a commodity.”

#Buddhism. “When you think these eight thoughts of a great person and become a person who can attain at will, without trouble or difficulty, these four jhānas—heightened mental states providing a pleasant abiding in the here & now—then your medicine of strong-smelling urine will seem to you to be just like the various tonics of a householder or householder’s son: ghee, fresh butter, oil, honey, and molasses sugar. As you live contented, it will serve for your delight, for a comfortable abiding, for non-agitation, & for alighting on unbinding.”
