The SageMathCloud guy explains how RethinkDB sucked as a #database compared to Postgres, which he ported his (CoffeeScript on Node) web service to in a month and got between 2× and 10× speed improvements (except for one query where Postgres’s query planner was fucking him over and almost shut down his service) and reduced the database from 800GB to 80GB.
