#Dmitry Grinberg reverse-engineered the Fisher-Price Pixter and found that its game cartridges were full of code for a Forth-like 16-bit stack machine. Apparently the Pixter Color he started with was an ARM, but the Pixter Classic was a 6502, probably from the Chinese 6502 vendor Sunplus/Generalplus. “Fair, there are some old cores commonly used today in cheap places, like the i-wish-it-would-already-die-but-it-will-outlive-me shitshow that is the 8051, but this is the first I’ve seen of a modern tapeout of a 6502.” This writeup also has a good explanation of how resistive touchscreen #hardware works. #microcontrollers #electronics #reverse-engineering #archival
