After pounding the bent part into shape on his vise with a hammer, he welds it back into the cover. Aluminum HVAC tape covers a multitude of welding sins. Aluminum chunks on top of the aluminum turnings enabled all the aluminum to melt together rather than remaining separated by their oxides. #video
