#video on #whips made of steel chain that can pulverize pine and cut through fire extinguishers and cheap safes. On one occasion they whipped an aluminum bench so hard that they created a yellow fireball. #mechanisms
#video on making light with an evacuated (6 millitorr) glass flask with a little mercury in it, which I guess creates triboelectric electrical discharges through the residual gas. With 100 torr of neon it looks amazing with neon orange. Maybe you could do the same thing with another liquid metal if you found one that didn’t wet the glass; copper beads do seem to work somewhat. 40 torr of krypton glows a beautiful blue instead, like an estus flask. Apparently this kind of “mechanical light bulb” was discovered by Jean Picard in 01675. #vacuum
