"clearceram-z" is one of the few near-zero #TCE #materials like Sitall, and the curves in this #PDF suggest that that's because it has a local maximum expansion around room temperature, perhaps because it incorporates a negative-TCE phase. Apparently OHARA can’t afford to hire a person literate in English to write their brochure, though.
Positive-#TCE Tin manganese oxide is closely related to negative-TCE zirconium manganese oxide, and so by adjusting proportions of tin and zirconium, you can get a single-phase near-zero thermal expansion material, but the material is metastable and tends to separate. This is #popsci; the research is by John Evans at U Durham.

"Applied Science" is Google employee Ben Krasnow, who does awesome science #video demos: bending wood with ammonia, using his home electron microscope to take stop-motion videos of a record being played by a pickup, an experimental rocket motor using acrylic and gaseous oxygen, the perennial favorite of homemade silica #aerogel, supercritical CO₂ caffeine extraction, etc.
Mike Hearn explains why the #Bitcoin code is forking into Bitcoin Core, which will retain a 1MB #blocksize limit, and Bitcoin XT (with Gavin, Mike, Jeff Garzik, and I guess Greg Maxwell and whoever else), which will expand the block size in order to increase the network's possible transaction rate. “Those who don’t want to see Bitcoin scale up as Satoshi intended have decided to stall the process of doing so.”
The Forme P9 #smartphone #hardware has a 3.5” touchscreen, Wi-Fi, a 3Mpix camera, an extra SIM slot, an FM radio, 256MB RAM, a MicroSD slot, no 3G, and a 1GHz CPU, for US$32 (Rs 1989) on Flipkart, with WhatsApp, Facebook, and Google services preinstalled on #Android 2.3.5. But you can only buy it in “tier 4 cities”, of which there is apparently at least one in #India.
