#video #Applied-Science holy shit, Ben Krasnow now has high-speed camera lighting that’s brighter than the arc welding he was filming, but only at 450nm, naturally called “Helios”. The LEDs are running at 1 kilowatt in 10μs pulses at 1kHz, synchronized with the camera shutter, so he doesn’t need eye protection to look at it, and the average heat dissipation is “only” 10 watts. I’ve never seen a welding puddle like this before. This is amazing. Similarly for plasma cutting and laser cutting, including laser cutting of quartz and aluminum oxide.
