#Adobe released an early version of the #Macintosh Photoshop source code, in Object Pascal, by Thomas Knoll’s Knoll Software, to the Computer #History Museum for non-commercial use; Grady Booch wrote a commentary. It’s about 1500 pages, but it’s written against MacApp, so the Basal Gangster bought the MacApp source code on eBay. He tried to compile it in System 6 with MPW 3.0, but to get it to compile in debug mode, he had to bugfix the tracing code in MacApp, which had an infinite recursion between MeasureTally and %_BP or %_EP. There were some other more Photoshop-specific hacks to get it to run, too. Surprisingly he did this on a IIci, not in emulation.

US$30 to US$50 a day for a transatlantic cruise for distraction-free work; interesting idea. That’s still more than what I live on in Buenos Aires, though.
