Chapter 39 of #Eliezer Yudkowsky’s recruitment tract “#Harry-Potter and the Methods of Rationality” ends with a quote that many of his followers have found especially inspirational, which is about #nihilism:
“There is no justice in the laws of Nature, Headmaster, no term for fairness in the equations of motion. The universe is neither evil, nor good, it simply does not care. The stars don’t care, or the Sun, or the sky. But they don’t have to! We care! There is light in the world, and it is us!”
Consequently Lighthaven’s Wi-Fi currently has the password “wearethelight”, and one of Mox's blackboards currently bears a joking graffito saying, “Labubu is the darkness”. #tourism
This #DN42 network seems appealing (a toy hobbyist internet where you can set up your own AS and play in #BGP); an #AI agent trying to portscan it ended up billing their operator US$6000 in #AWS costs
“"dn42" is a large, dynamic VPN that employs Internet technologies (#BGP, #whois database, #DNS, etc.). Participants connect to each other using network tunnels (GRE, OpenVPN, WireGuard, Tinc, IPsec) and exchange routes using the Border Gateway Protocol.”
John Quiggin is pretty down on #Elmu and by extension on the #USA.

To me, the most important points: Lebanon is included, Iran is waiving the transit fees for 60 days, the US is going to pay US$300 billion to Iran and end all sanctions against Iran.
