#CNC-Kitchen #video on orienting parts for #3D-printing to get better strength; in his initial test his dogbones broke at 63MPa in the in-plane direction but only 31MPa in the cross-plane direction due to lower layer adhesion, a factor of 2 he says is typical. Perhaps unsurprisingly, dogbones printed at 30°, 45°, and 60° from the horizontal were intermediate in strength. Demonstrates “shrink lines” on Benchy and discusses tricks for supports. In his example vacuum-cleaner adapter, he claims that the non-alignment of the layer lines with the stress concentration point from his vacuum cleaner adds additional strength.

#video on #hydrofoil #drones using capacitive sensing of water levels, with the cathode physically in contact with the water to get a bigger effect (and Kapton tape on the anode instead of solder mask), and using “fringed-field capacitance” (?). His main watercraft body was cut from Foamular, and it used an air propeller in front to drive it. They were using a PID library that by default only updated at 10Hz, which was a problem.
