#video on quantum #physics by #Veritasium walking through the principle of least time with the beach example, Maupertuis’s principle of least action, the Ultraviolet Catastrophe, Planck’s solution, the photoelectric effect, Bohr’s computation of the hydrogen spectrum, de Broglie’s matter-wave hypothesis, etc. At 22'30" he derives the least-action principle from the quantum-variational stationary-phase principle.
#video by #The-Gripsion on isopropanol-powered #weaponry made from a pocket flashlight battery chamber, shooting blowgun darts made out of sewing needles, hot glue, and paper, weighted with a bit of solder; at 320 “feet” per second, they penetrate about 8mm of plywood. He’s speaking with a heavy US accent, so this is almost certainly an illegal firearm.

#Argentina #news #video from #La-Nacion about the Línea Mitre trains today not reaching Retiro because of #blackouts. Supposedly as of 8:05 AM, Edesur says 6290 households are in the blackout, which seems absurdly low for a blackout that’s interrupting train service, and 2.671 million who aren’t. Edenor has 1137 household in blackouts and 3.309 million who aren’t. Four high-tension lines apparently out of service? Footage of people trapped in a dark subte yesterday fanning themselves with hand fans.

Illegal #immigration is being blamed for US gangs in New York in homeless shelters.
